What is Supporter to Reporter?

Is a project which gives young people the opportunity to learn media skills, meet sports stars and work alongside media professionals at major sporting events. S2R is supported by The Football Foundation and Trafford and Northampton’s Children’s & Young People’s Services.
How does it work?

Throughout the project Radiowaves reporters are trained, attend major sports events and create audio and video programmes for the world to access. Reporters get the chance to: •Meet and learn from sporting media professionals and their sports heroes •Practice the latest media skills in a real-life environment •Build their confidence, communication and teamworking skills
Highlights

•Interviewing Sir Alex Ferguson at a champions league match press conference.
•Putting a question to Dallaglio on the day of his retirement at the Guinness Premiership final.
•Reporting from the twenty20 cup final in Southampton from our own media van.
•Being mentored by professional journalists from the BBC, Sky Sports, and ITV
•Celebrating the Beijing Olympics by reporting remotely and following the stories behind the results.
•Touring with the Tour of Britain, getting exclusive behind the scenes action and reporting all the action.
What Next?

To the Olympics and beyond! Radiowaves are recruiting as many reporters as possible around the UK to take up the challenge of reporting - up to and including our 2012 Olympics.
