I'm impressed to see you are up at 6 to go for a run. It will be good practice for your very very early start in the morning. My friend who comes from near Sydney said you have to play 'Two Up' (I think that's right) on Anzac Day, it's the only day of the year it's legal - and I think it's a good way to loose all your money so watch out!

Trust you survived the heat of Thailand and are enjoying more bearable temperatures in Oz. We are freezing here - still waiting for Spring to arrive (and a baby!). Looking forward to hearing more about what you've been getting up to down under. Love from us (Em, Tim,Roger and Ruth)

After reading your moving account of the war cemeteries, my thought was that the families of all those soldiers should be able to visit their graves. I wonder why that hasn't happened?

I think it's interesting that as we move into an age that is more and more based in digital/virtual dimensions, that we've become quite obssessive about listening to people tell us in person their own memories of events in the past - it's almost as if we need to that connection with a real person to 'ground' ourselves somehow? Bit deep for a Saturday morning so having a lie-down next
