Last Official Blog

This is the final blog (probably not actually, but what the hey) that i am going to
write about the TPYF trip to France and Canada in October 2007.
The trip was amazzzzing and i'm really sad that the whole experience is now
over. The whole group had the most amazing time, and we're all really sad that
this is the last blog that we will be writing.
I can remember the day that I found out that I had a place on the trip, when
Miss Murie read out my name at the end of assembly and I knew I was going
to visit all of the sites connected with both world wars.
The trip was the most amazing experiance ever, and I am so glad that at my
age I got to go and visit the places that mean so much to so many people, and
that have so vastly changed the modern world. The experianced on the trip I
know will stay with me for the rest of my life.
When we met with the veteran Ted, who spoke to us about what he
experienced during World War 2, it just made the whole thing seem more real,
as although I know that both world wars took place, the fact that I am much
too young to have been in direct contact with anything means that sometimes
the younger generations can forget what atrocities took place. Trips like the
TPYF trip to France and Canada will help the present and future generations
remember those who founght and died for their countries.
The whole trip was just the best ever, and I know that we are all so thankful
for the time and thought that was put into it.
Thanks again

Only three days left

I'm not going to write much, but I just wanted to say how great the trip has been and how much everyone has enjoyed themselves.
Everyone's learnt so much from the experiences that we've had during our two weeks (almost) away, and many of the places that we have been have brought tears to the eyes of many of the students.
Overall I think it has been a very moving experience and I have enjoyed myself greatly.

day 5

A long time ago by MiloFlower
Today was a pretty emotional day for everyone...
We started out at about 7:30, when we woke up etc.
Got downstairs and had breakfast. Pain au chocolat. mm mmmm...
we caught the coach (pahhahahahaaha) to juno beach, where we received a tour by a nice Canadian woman named Ashleigh. She showed us where everything was, and what all of the different statues and memorials meant.
We then had a chance to explore the beach by ourselves and then made our way up to the museum itself. I found all of the exhibits very interesting and found that the way that the different displays were really well presented. We then went into the museum shop, and made some critical purchases : ]
We had lunch, and then caught the bus to another cemetary, where we held our own commemoration service to a man named Harley Victor Downing. Both of his uncles had fought and died during the First World War, and he had been killed during the Second. We read a poem, laid down a Canadian flag and also a stone taken from Juno Beach and sang the first versen of our school hymn 'He who would Valient be'.
It was very emotional, and many people found themselves crying.
Overall, out trip to France has been really amazing and moving, and we all hope that Canada will be just as good or even better.
