Looking for exciting and innovative ways to deliver Curriculum for Excellence?

Radiowaves provides staff and pupils with the skills and confidence to make different types of media such as podcasts, video and blogs and publish them to the safe and secure Radiowaves community. With pupils publishing their work on the Radiowaves website where peers, family, the local and international community can view their achievements provides them with a relevant and accessible record of their learning.

It’s a fantastic way of delivering Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) and developing pupils' skills within ICT, literacy, communication as well as enhancing cross curricular learning. It provides real life opportunities for pupils to use and develop their own imagination and creativity in new ways ...and most of all it’s fun!

It soon has all pupils becoming:

Successful Learners: Radiowaves harnesses pupils' natural creativity and enthusiasm for technology to motivate learning.

Confident Individuals: It helps pupils develops many skills such as effective communication and team working whilst increasing confidence in their own abilities.

Responsible Citizens: It’s a vibrant community where pupils’ voices and opinions are valued therefore encouraging them to think about how they interact with their wider audience.

Effective Contributors: Publishing media online allows pupils to communicate in different ways, in a variety of different settings with a variety of people in real life activities.

Radiowaves in Scotland

The vibrant Radiowaves community in Scotland has over 200 schools now creating stories in and out of the classroom which allows them to keep their wider community in tune with what’s happening in their school.

Since 2005 Fife Council and Radiowaves have been working together to help teachers deliver CfE in engaging new ways providing fun, real-life activity based learning for pupils. This long term partnership has been highlighted as outstanding practice by HMIE.

The wide ranging activity happening across Fife has opened many interesting links between the council and industry and created innovative new opportunities for teacher development and pupils’ learning.
