Watch Guernsey Girls partake in the nightly Menin Gate service in Belgium.

Lorna Whattam and Kirstie Tostevin are shown laying a wreath, representing Ladies' college at the Menin Gate ceremony.
This was an emotional, moving ceromony that takes part every night and hundreds of people attend.

The atmosphere was solemn and dignified, it was an honour to take part. Thankyou to all the organises who take time out to make it such a special event.
Thankyou also to Katie for the filming which showed the most moving parts of the ceremony, unfortunatly the event was slightlly ruined by younger individuals who clapped and called out, thus showing little respect to the rememberance of others. Hopefully this can be resolved in the future.

Ladies I am sure that it was very emotional for you all.last year at the age of 65 I managed to visit my Fathers grave in Brussels cemetery in Belgium,he was killed in 1944,he was an Irish Guardsman, just after my second birthday so I do not remember him at all.I do know that when I stood at the foot of his grave I cried,I was remembering him, and some of my old service comrades.-So well done girls, you will have experienced feelings and emotions that a lot of people think do not exist

Ladies - what a fabulous trip you are having! The Menin Gate ceremony was so moving and reminded me of the Anzac ceremonies at 9pm every evening Australia when I was there. Very thought provoking! I hope you are looking after the Radiowaves staff - say Hi to Katy for me!!
