Going Green Conference
On Saturday the 26th of January 2008, my brother and I attended a landmark conference at West Green Learning Centre in North London called Going Green Conference. The event was all about helping to tackle cimate change, finding out what the Haringey Council is doing about it, having your say about being green and to discuss the Council's draft Greenest Borough Strategy.
We both interviewed lots of people. We interviewed David Lammy MP fot Tottenham,Minister for skills, Department for innovation, Universities and Skills, Councillors Brian Haley, Member for Environment and Conservation , members of the Haringey Youth Council and general members of the public. We asked questions such as:
-What have you learnt from this event?
-What advice would you give to young people about climate change?
-What are you doing/going to do to become more green?
Some of the answers we got were:
-Lots of people want to make a difference to the environment.
-Young people should make a difference now as they've got a chance to change there future.
-Lots of people are going to turn theirlaptop off instead of putting it on stand by, wear more clothes instead of turning the heating on , walk instead of using the car and many more different things.
My brother and I enjoyed interviewing people and hearing their views and what they think about how climate change affects them, learning all sorts of new things and just browsing around the stands!
We have had lots of oppourtunities to interview lots of people including MP's and councillors just like this Going Green event and we hope we will have many more oppourtunities in the future!
