Brooklands Travel To North London to take on Southgate
Having beaten the league leaders at George's Road back in October, the young Brooklands side were fully confident of getting a result this time around as well. A superb goalkeeping performance from Lee Ible ensured that early Southgate pressure went unrewarded, and as Brooklands began to settle, the game developed into a flowing epic encounter, with both sides pushing for a win.
In an intensely physical battle under the North London sun, Brooklands once again turned to Peter Flanagan to provide the killer blow. With just nine minutes remaining on the clock, the hard working Brooklands forwards manufactured a short corner for Flanagan to send a sensational drag flick past the wrong footed Southgate goalkeeper.
Southgate pressed hard in the latter stages to snatch an equaliser but another string of outstanding saves from Lee Ible in the Brooklands goal kept the home side at bay and ensured that the Welsh keeper kept his third consecutive clean sheet in the league.
With Brooklands securing two wins on the road, they move into second place in the division and look forward to hosting Chelmsford at 1:45pm next Sunday at George's Road in the next chapter in their bid for promotion. Brooklands quite literally hammered Chelmsford two weeks ago in Essex and will be looking to repeat their success again at their George's Road home.
