A little bit about the history of my cricket club
Ashton On Mersey Cricket and Tennis Club was established in 1897 at a site on Atkinson Road. The current site is on Little Ees Lane, Sale. There is now a fourth clubhouse after the destruction by two fires and one whirlwind. The club was re-built in 1986 and was refurbished in 1996.
After 101 years in the Manchester Association, the cricket section has moved to the Cheshire County league. The first and second teams presently play in the Meller Braggins League. The third team plays in the Cheshire County League. The club offers superb cricket, tennis, table tennis, pool and darts facilities. There are various teams participating in each sports section and are as follows:
- 4 Senior cricket teams
- 1 Gents tennis teams
- 4 Junior cricket teams*
- 1 Darts Team
