The Schools Mace is a national debating competition that Rushcliffe School has entered. We debated whether the cap on university fees should be lifted. Listen to the debate and results here.
Rushcliffe School has entered the national Schools Mace debating competition.
The first round took place on Friday 29 February at Nottingham University. Rushcliffe's team, Jonathon Steers and Bex Bailey, argued that the cap on university fees should be lifted.
Each school's team consists of two people and they are given a topic and side to debate against another school. There is a first speaker (Jonathon, in our case) and a second speaker (Bex) from each school.
Rushcliffe won the first round and are through to the next stage of the competition which will take place on March 10.
Please note that in the audio I have only included Rushcliffe's side of the debate, but there was an opposition who we were arguing against.
