Brooklands first team secured a 1-0 victory away at Belper at the weekend to extend their winning streak to five games in the First Division of the Slazenger England Hockey League.
Another solid display from centre back pairing 'Nick the Greek' and Pete Jackson set the platform for the side to build on, and after a first half of frustration in front of goal, eighteen year old, Henry Weir was the man to give Brooklands a 1-0 lead at half time.
Both sides failed to convert their opportunities in a fruitless second half, but crucially Brooklands came away with the points as they continue their battle for promotion from the tightly contested First Division.
With just five league games remaining in the season, only 2 points separate the top four sides in the league, and with third placed Brooklands hosting promotion rivals Old Georgians next Sunday at Georges Road (1:45pm start), the race for promotion is beginning to reach an intriguing climax.
