On Thursday the 6th of March, 2008, it was World Book Day.
The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.
Registered pre-schools, primary schools and secondary schools get vouchers for each student with are worth £1. You can either exchange it for one of the nine World Book Day books or spend £2.99 or above on any book and get £1 off.
I think it's a good idea to have a book day and give students vouchers so they can get more out of reading instead of doing things like watching television or playing on the Playstation. My school took part and I got a voucher!
Did your school (if you're a student) take part in World Book Day and did you get and use your voucher?
