On March 13th, the Government published its draft on Climate Change Bill.
MAY - PEACE IN NORTHERN IRELAND
On May 8th, devolution returned to Northern Ireland.
JUNE- GORDON BROWN BECOMES PRIME MINISTER
On June 27th, Gordon Brown became the Prime Minister. He took over from Tony Blair who had been Prime Minister for 10 years.
JULY- ENGLAND GOES SMOKE FREE
On July 1st, virtually all enclosed places and workplaces in England became smokefree.
NOVEMBER - THE QUEEN'S SPEECH
ON November 6th, the Queen delivered her speeech from the throne of the Houses of Lords.
