Australia and New Zealand are about to celebrate ANZAC day - wo spoke to the people who know.

On 25th April 1915, ANZAC troupes (that’s Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) landed in Gallipoli, to fight against Turkish forces during World War I. Over the course of eight months, over 11,000 ANZAC soldiers were killed, alongside 41,500 of their Allied partners. Although they suffered greater losses elsewhere in the War, it was this event that stayed in the hearts of Australians. So it is on this day that Australia remembers, but also celebrates their culture and identity.

We spoke and shall continue to the people of Australia and specifically war veterans to find out what ANZAC Day means to them.

- What would you ask them? Did any of your family fight in with the ANZAC soldiers?

Also, we are going to be discussing Australian culture and their national identity. What are your views on this? Is it all Shelia’s Wheels, cricket and Neighbours?

We're now collecting questions to ask to WW2 Veterans. What would you ask? Leave a comment below...

What a fantastic opportunity and video. Interesting opinions about ANZAC day, the impact of WWI obviously holds very different connotations for some Australians. Do you think opinions are similar here in GB?

It's amazing that we can share some of these experiences with you when we are thousands of miles away. Thanks for your fascinating content.
I bet you got a fantastic reception from the Veterans when you 'vox-popped' them. Were they pleased that young people were taking an interest in their past??

What a fantastic video - you certainly managed to capture a wide variety of different opinion, perhaps some a bit unexpected? I'd like to know whether, after talking to some Australian citizens, whether you think their views on ANZAC Day and commemoration are any different from British views.

Keep up the good work! We are really enjoying tuning in to get the latest updates from this amazing trip.
Thanks - Lucy RW
