A new report has suggested that long school holidays should be changed to stop kids forgetting what they have learned.
The research revealed that some pupils got worse at maths and English after the long summer breaks. Instead of having the whole summer off, experts are saying that lots of shorter holidays would be better for students and teachers. Their idea is that each school term would be eight weeks long, followed by two weeks off with a month holiday during the summer.
The long summer holidays are said to date back to a time when kids were needed to help pick fruit on family farms during the summer seasons.
