My name is Haylee, I'm twelve years old and I got to festivals all summer round. I really enjoy them because I feel quite independant
The most recent festival I've been to is Glastonbury '08. Its great and I usually go to stay on site for two- three months. This year wasn't as good as usual because the line- up (that is the bands that play) wasn't very good.
But Panic! At The Disco played this year which was awesome because their one of my favourite bands.
My mum works at the festivals.
She has a ran a cafe', been staff for several and done information stands on health. When we go to Glastonbury, we work on the flags by painting the poles and cutting out flags to go on the top. Usually we have about eleven workers and it becomes like a family but gradually these people have done other jobs away from where we are camping. Two of these people still work with us and also stay on site after us. They travel to Morroco and sell what they buy there at Glastonbury.
We are camped right next to The Stone Circle a couple of fields away. There is a big camp fire in the middle and everyone sits round it and sings songs. In this same field there is a huge stone dragon, which would be life size if we could see them. It has Rose Quartz crystals along its back, some have broken off now as it is very old.
On Solstice (The longest day of the year) they light candles and float them in the water around the dragon.
People make all sorts of art around the festival. My favourite this year was yet another dragon (there were about four dragon sculptures this year!) made out of tyre inner tubes and last year, there were some HUGE flowers that were very brightly coloured.
There is a cinema that puts on all kinds of films and I seen Juno and The Bourne Ultimatum and a circus field.
There are a lot of other things too but there the best bits.
We've been to Glastonbury every year since I was born and worked there for the past six or seven years.
I love it, its probably my favourite festival out of the ones I go to which are: Sunrise, Big Green Gathering, Shambala, Buddah Fields, Funky Raw, Spirit Of Music, The Big Switch Up, Rainbow Camps and quite a few more!
I love festivals and really enjoy them.
I hope I have made you want to go to more festivals as they are great fun and keep coming onto my page if you want more information about future camps(:
