Professional Swimming
Only the best athletes will succeed at the Olympics, the most prestigious worldwide sporting celebration. With a variety of British talent flying to the 2008 Beijing games, some are more local than you may think. The world of swimming is a fierce, draining and demanding sport. But for those with the sheer determination to push past this, the rewards come big, very big. Jessica Daly interviews Pro swimmer, James Kirton about what it takes to get to the top……
James Kirton competes for one of Sheffield’s official swimming squads, and trains at our local Ponds Forge, considered one of the finest facilities in the world. This Barnsley born swimmer has a hectic schedule, so when he agreed to do an interview for Cube, I was delighted to be given a chance. Having just got out of the pool from one of his ten, two hour training sessions a week, he told me his thoughts and feelings about what he loves most: competing and the biggest competition of his life: the Olympics.
