St Lucia trek
We have just arrived back from our acclimatisation trek in the St Lucia wetlands. Over 3 days we trekked a total of 38K, for some of this we walked across the beach next to the Indian Ocean, through and over rocks, sand and forests.
All of the scenery on the trek was beautiful and the weather was constantly warm and sunny.
The best scenery though was from the toilet/long drop at the hut we were staying at, even Miss Sweeney over came this. The view from the roof was amazing and we watched beautiful sunsets and sunrises and the stars.
On the way to Mission rocks we saw a number of animals including zebras, rhinos, hippos, warthog, waterbucks, kudu and crocs.
Whilst trekking we had 2 armed guards called Precious and Martin who taught us our Zulu numbers however, we have all forgotton them.
Before we left we had the fantastic opportunity to watch and join in in traditional Zulu dancing, Luke,Sam,Nathan obviously have some Zulu in them as they were the best.
Today we are going on a hippo and croc boat safari followed by traditional African stew called Poki.
Tomorrow we're returning to Durban and going to a water park and aquarium.
And then on saturday we are going to the school.
All the staff want to let the parents know that the students are making us proud, are relaxed and enjoying themselves and are all well. And the parents can look forward to having some good meals cooked for them when the children get back!
Thankyou for all the messages. We will blog again soon!
