The history of hockey and its role at the olympic games
Hockey is one of the oldest games ever to be played and was the first ever game tobe played with a stick and ball. Hockey became an Olympic sport in 1908 and has remained as an Olympic sport ever since. Surprisingly though hockey still remains an amateur sport despite all the efforts the players put in to reach the top of their game.
It is the second most popelar team sport in the world after football, it beats team sports such as cricket and lacrosse but is below football.
