My day at Sale Sharks and Stockport Countys ground.
On Tuesday 19th August 2008, Myself, Shane and Glyn got the oppurtunity to go to the Sale Sharks media day.
Once we arrived at the Stockport County ground we were greeted by a woman called Melissa who was from the Sky Sports. she told us that Sky Sports wanted to make a package all about Supporter to Reporter, from when we went to the Twickenham finals.
First of all, to start the day the whole Sale Sharks team came out to have a group photo and also individual head shots, this was highly amusing as their team mates would taunt and shout noises/words to them as they were having their picture taken which would lead them to laugh. It was a great experience and it made us realise how down to earth rugby players are.
After the fun and games, the real work started. We then got to meet Steve Hanley, for has just retired from Sale Sharks after being there 10 years, he had to retire because of a back injury. He was a great person to talk to, as he had had a huge career as a rugby player and now he wanted to stay with the club but more fo the behind the scenes and also he wants to help with the community. Me and Shane also interviewed him and he was a really nice person to interview.
We then went into the press room where Shane also interviewed Lee Thomas.
We then watched Melissa at work and making a package for Sky Sports on the Rugby Players, but she was asking relaxed and funny questions. She was a great mentor for the day and she told us a lot of tips on how to become a good reporter.
We had a really great day and really enjoyed it. It makes me really want a job in the media, even if it is very tiring!
