About the kits
The kits that are being worn for this years Olympics and Paralympics in Beijing, were revealed in June by a small number of athletes taking part. These athletes included marathon runner Liz Yelling and 14 year old diver Tom Daley. The new team kit is especially tailored for each different sport. They have also been designed to cope with the hot and humid conditions in Beijing.
The company providing all these kits is Adidas and they have provided 120,000 units of the Olympic and Paralympic apparel and footwear. There is over 680 different products that have been created and given to the athletes, coaches and officials.
The kits are specially developed with the athletes and include ClimaCool technology. This will help to insure that the athletes bodies stay the right temperature when they are competing.ForMotion™ technology will ensure that the kit moves seamlessly with athletes’ bodies when they perform which will be particularly important in the humidity.
In addition, adidas have now included TECHFIT POWERWEB™ in their tennis, boxing, weightlifting and swimming kits. TECHFIT POWERWEB™ has been used successfully in the past to power track and field athletes such as world Champion 100 metres champion Tyson Gay and world indoor triple jump champon Phillips Idowu.
