A reveiw of Spore Creatures for the DS
You may have heard of the PC version of Spore through the T.V adverts, magazines or just word of mouth, anyway, it's hyped to be one of the best games of all time but did you know, its has a little brother in the form of a DS game. Spore Creatures has had little publicity and has been overshadowed by the PC version, but is it a hidden gem or utter garbage?
The thing that defines the PC version of Spore is it's simply unbelievable Creature Creator. It's really easy to use yet in-depth. The same thing cannot be said for the DS version. While the PC version produced gorgeous 3-D model of you're creature, the DS allows you to make paper-thin cut outs of you're creature. I wasn't expecting it to be as detailed as the PC version but I expected a lot more than what it has.
Spore Creatures tries to create a free-roaming feel to the enviroment but it is as liner as it gets because to get over certain terrains you have to edit you're creature instead of roaming around the world at you're will. The combat system is also glitchy and you will find yourself running away from the enemy while you're team-mates do all the fighting. You also have to find parts to use to create creatures which is a pain in the neck if you just want to have fun creating.
While it is fun creating creatures (When you have enough parts) it just isn't as in-depth as I had hoped and the whole game feels like it was rushed to get it out on time. Maybe wait a while until the prices go down and buy it when it's at around £10.
I would give it:
6/10
