OUR MATCH REPORT...
Buxton took control early on with Gav Knight delivering the first of two after just twelve minutes.
Bootle showed some early promise with Paul Mc Donald making a good run before being brought up short by Scott Hartley just before half time.
In the second half Buxton were determined to extend their lead- creating a goal attempt just minutes in. After a couple more opportunities the Bucks finally delivered at 67 minutes, Knight bagging his second after a brilliant cross from Tommy Agus.
Will Dolon fought back for the visitors, firing in a plucky shot past Scott Hartley at 86 minutes.
Bootle's joy was short-lived when local lad Mark Balfe redressed the balance less than a minute later with a confident third goal.
An injury to Bootle's O'Connor meant that Bootle played the last twenty minutes of the game with just ten men, and they won admiration from the crowd and officials for their brave and determined performance.
We were so grateful for the chance to talk to the players, the Managers and more importantly the fans. We tried to get to the real stories behind the match, and attempted to understand the unique passion that surrounds the FA Cup!
Good Luck to Buxton, commiserations to Bootle, and thanks to Buxton FC, Silverlands for making us so welcome!
