Hi Padraig
Just found your report on finding great uncle Robert's grave. Really pleased that you have 'touched it', this will connect the picture and telegram. Everybody really interested in how you are getting on, the standard of the blogs is first class - well done to you all!

Very moving and sad, Padraig. Personal stories always bring the enormity of the losses in WW1 home to me. It would be interesting to hear more of Private Wynne's story. What did he do before the war? Did he join up when he was under age?

I realised I was watching this video during the 2 minute silence at 11am. A very fitting way to remember, I think. It is important to remember the individual victims of conflict and to know that the effects of war still ripple down through families nearly a century later. Keep up the good work.

Peter, you came across very clear with your comments about the Thiepval Memorial as did your two friends. I's wonderful that you can see the battlefields but also see the results of those battles fought there by the huge numbers of head-stones of those so young men who gave their lives. Grandad
