On Thursday the 27th of November, 8 children from Year 6 went to visit Operation Christmas Child in Speke. Operation Christmas Child
is a charity run by Samaritan's Purse and our school was proud to take part, as the shoe box present is the only present some children
will get for christmas once a year.
When we got there, we met a lady called Margaret and she was the regional manager. She told us some good information about the children in different countries. As we went in the warehouse, there were thousand of boxes waiting to be checked. Mrs. Barton partnered us up with workers. I was put with a helpful lady who was very good at her job. The lady told me to put in hats and scarfs, a cuddly toy, some sweets, pencils and pens, note book, toothpaste and a tooth brush , soap and a flannel.
After we got the hang of packing the boxes, we had a little break and we had a minutes silence also we listened to a prayer about children who lived in a different counties.
We all went back to work. There was a box
that just had sweets in and there was another one that had nothing in. Eventually it was time to go back to school but no one wanted to go back. We all wanted to work there! Margret and the staff gave us a chocolate bar each.
We had a great day with the volunteers. The ladies and gents worked from 8 am till 9 pm
and do not get paid. Hope you liked my story!!
