On Thursday the 11th of May, Hillside School went to Cumbernauld to play in a cup final against St. John (Glasgow). We arrived at 11.30 and had lunch and practised. When St. John's arrived I thought we were going to get hammered because they were bigger and stronger than us.
The game kicked of at 12.30. We did well for half an hour before St John put the ball in the box and one of their players scored a fantastic volley. When Paul was on the ball he suffered some bad tackles and needed treatment. Our heads went down for two minutes and some sloppy defending let St John score with a free header. We did well for the last ten minutes of the first half. Half time - St John’s 2 _ 0 Hillside. It was very hot and everybody was glad to get a drink!
About 15 minutes into the second half Hillside got a free kick. Eddie passed it to Paul who curled it into the back of the net. It stayed that way for a while because Kieron pulled off some fantastic saves but later on in the second half he made a bad mistake and St. John's scored. Then they scored again two minutes later, but Hillside did not give up and were rewarded when Eddie found some space and put the ball in the goal brilliantly. The score finished four – two.
Even though Hillside lost, everybody played well. Later, we had cola, sandwiches and sausage rolls the club house.
