• Hillside Green Team - update

The Green Team visited Craigencalt Ecology Centre, Kinghorn Loch, to get inspiration for future Eco Schools activities. A follow-up interview was conducted.

  • Kevin and Douglas interview Ronnie from Craigencalt
  • We went to Craigencalt, a recycling centre. We talked to a man called Ronnie who told us about greenhouses made out of plastic bottles. He gave everyone a name badge, made out of wood.

We then went for a walk around. The first thing we looked at was a "can crusher". This crushed cans for recycling and gives them more room. We saw a huge tree house, then got taken into two greenhouses to see what they were growing.

We saw statues and instruments that had been made out of junk. We saw their own plastic bottle greenhouse, which was cool. Some of the boys asked him lots of questions about this as we are keen to make one. On the way to the lake we stopped in a bird-watching hut (Hide) and looked out to see what was in the water.

On the way back, we saw a water wheel, that is used to make electricity. I thought the visit was good and would like to go back again.
