• Boxing ...Can you kick it?

A day at the Female National finals
    8th June 2009
  • I’m here at Manchester Boxing Centre. Where woman’s boxing is happening there are loads of different opponent’s different weights. Today I’ve been focusing on video work; I’ve been capturing the woman’s boxing and interviewing coaches and fighters.

As I do Thai boxing I feel it is more intents than boxing. In boxing you can hit to the head and body you can’t kick, they wear long shorts, head guards, gum shields, wraps and gloves. Whereas Thai boxing you wear a gum shield, head guard, shin pads but have to have bare feet, wraps and gloves.

Today I have learned a bit more from boxing I already know a load about this sport but I didn’t know that the Army, Royal Navy and Metropolitan police are involved in this sport to also universities. This sport is hoping to go to the 2012 Olympics.

Ladee Ali - this is superb! I am so pleased you have mixed your super kick boxing skills with your brilliant reporting style! I want to see you cover these stories up until august when we find out whether Ladies Boxing gets into the Olympics... and beyond. Very very impressed! Katy
