Hi! My name is Joshua; I am a year 8 student and attend The St Lawrence Sport Academy in Scunthorpe. As the appointee of our after school “Impossible Verse Reality Engineering Club”
I will be reporting in on behalf of our team of young engineers on the progress of our current project “Hover Disc” which comes from the hovercraft family. We currently have 4 working boards; the First one is a prototype that we made at the beginning of the year, it is rectangular in shape and can support an adults’ weight.
After the prototype we decided to experiment a little and came up with a ‘Surfboard’ shaped one. It can have more than one person on it and is a lot easier to stand up on. This got us thinking what about a Hover Disc you know like a UFO!
This lead us to creating our newest creation the “Hover Disc” when completed in the next couple of weeks it will reach speeds up to 15mph, float 10 to 15 cm off the ground and will be able to turn on a pin head! We are so excited in fact we have just entered the “Hover Disc” in the British Inventors Engineering Contest.
If you want to find out more log on to www.radiowaves.co.uk and go to the St Lawrence Academy and then search for Hoverboards and you will see us there, so what are you waiting for come on!
