GORDON Brown met the public in Newcastle’s Discovery Museum’s Great Hall as part of his Building Britain’s Future tour of the UK.
Unveiled earlier this week, this is the Government’s plan to help the country through the recession and emerge successfully from the other side.
Mr Brown sees Building Britain’s Future as a chance to restore the public’s confidence in politicians following the expenses scandal.
After his audience Mr Brown kindly agreed to a private one on one chat with myself, having met him on several occasions before I was nevertheless as nervous as the first time!
I asked the Prime Minister the following four questions:
1. How do you beleive that you and your government can harness the power and will of young people around the country to help build a better Britain for the future.
2. In this time of economic hardship how is your government helping young people so that they can afford to choose education over crime and then to find a job after they have qualified?... Read more
3. The Youth Citizenship Commission report was released on Friday, one recommendation from the report was to create an award for Citizenship, this is exactly what the Diana Award already does. would it not make sense to use the Diana Award instead of creating a new award?
4. The Diana Award is in its 10th Anniversary Year and we all would like to see another 25,000 award holders in 10 years time, what would your message be today to all of the Diana Award holders within the UK who are listening to this interview?
As I did in the interview I would like to thank the Prime Minister again for taking the time out of his hectic schedule to speak to the Diana Award Channel and to continue to support the Diana Award which he has been doing now for 10 years.
