What is Radiowaves?

Radiowaves is the award winning global network of internet radio stations. We make it really easy for teachers and students to setup and run their own internet radio station and use it as a learning tool in and out of the classroom. It offers a safe and easy to use space for young people to get their voice heard on issues that are important to them and allows them to collaborate with other young people from around the world.

Who can join?

We are looking for schools and organisations that work with young people aged 5 – 19 and have a passion for getting their voices heard. These can be Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Community Groups. We just need an adult representative for each VoiceIt! Station who is responsible for approving users.

What do I get?

All schools will receive:

  • Your own internet radio station, part of the VoiceIt! Channel where you can publish podcasts and video, blogs and comments
  • Teacher pack including curriculum guides for using VoiceIt! To deliver the Citizenship curriculum and PSHE.
  • Access to additional kit and training if needed at an additional charge

Do I have to be technical?

No! Voice It is really easy to use and there are tutorials and guides online to help you. There are lots of ways you can get involved in Voice It, from encouraging your students to listen and leave comments online, to setting them up with their own pages to blog and publish photos, videos and podcasts. Need training to create videos and podcasts? We can help. Contact us on 0113 246 9989.

What can I publish online?

All media stories published on Voice It need to be related to student voice and issues that are important to young people. For example, you cant publish a football match report on Voice It but you can publish a report on hooliganism and the affects it has. Any unrelated stories will be taken down. If you want to publish stories on any topic you can upgrade to become a full Radiowaves member. Find out more.

Who will listen to the stories?

Anyone can access the VoiceIt! Station and listen to the content and leave approved comments. Voice It is supported by The Ministry of Justice and ministers and MPs so this really is the chance for your young people to get their voices heard by the people that matter!
