WHAT IS EID?
On the 1st of September it was Eid. Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival that marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan. This enjoyable day is celebrated to give thanks for the blessings of Ramadan. Muslims attend the congregational Eid prayer service which is held in the morning. They wear new clothing, cook delicious food and invite friends and neighbors to celebrate with them Fasting during Ramadan inspires sympathy for the hungry and needy, and encourages Muslims to donate generously to the poor.
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE EID?
we celebrate eid because near the day of eid the 'HOLY QURAN' was revealed
WHAT I DID ON EID:
In the morning I woke up at about 6:00 in the morning! Then my mum told me it is very important to have a bath and then go to Eid because we should look very clean! Therefore I had a bath and then my mum told me to wear my clothes! My clothes were very prepossessing and they looked very lovely on me! After I wore my clothes my mum said that I should eat my breakfast which keer (rice pudding)! After breakfast we set of to the mosque Baitul fathuh. There was a very considerable rush! Luckily we found a space next to my cousins. I was really content that I was next to my cousins! Later some lady said to read this prayer which was, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illallahu wallhu akbar Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil hamd. Translation: Allah is the Greatest; Allah is the Greatest. There is none worthy of worship except Allah; Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest and all Praise belongs to Him. So I did read the prayer! Meanwhile she was saying that I saw my friend Maria and her mum! Then our leader came and his name is Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed and he was going to read the Eid sermon, the Eid sermon was quite long!!When Eid sermon had finished we had prayer time and we also had to read our Eid prayer, so we did! After that it was home time and I was so happy to go straight to my cousins’ house! Finally I got in the car and went to my cousin’s house! Wow, it was so amazing and I got to spend with my favorite cousins for the whole time! In the middle of our celebrations we got our presents one of the things I got was a necklace, it was really really pretty. My sister also got a very pretty necklace but her one was red, and my one was silver. After the presents some people went home but my first cousins stayed there for about 5 more hours and it was really late once all of us got home! It was about 1:59 in the morning when we got straight to home!
