Hampton Academy: September 2010

Subject:HCC is becoming Hampton Academy

Mr Molin's Interview
Dr. Demont's Interview
Mr Collins's Interview
These interviews are us interviewng teachers about Hampton Academy.

At the end of July HCC will be shutting down and in September Hampton Academy will open on the same site. An academy is an independently run school and is built using sponsors.

An academy has more freedom than schools and they were actually first designed in 2000 and were used to replace run down schools or help schools which were in need of help.

The Government dropped the name ‘city academies’ as they wanted it to be relevant to anyone, anywhere.

Our school is going to be run by the Learning Schools Trust and we hope it will be a success as we are very proud of our school.

Here are some successful academies:
Mossbourne Academy, Hackney, London http://www.mossbourne.hackney.sch.uk/

St Matthew Academy, Lewisham, London http://www.stmatthewacademy.co.uk/

Heritage academy, 340 N. Boston Avenue, DeLand, FL 32724
Faith academy, 1010 E. 26th Street, Norfolk, VA 23504;Drive, N. Las

These are just a few.

There will be many changes that we will have to adapt to in our new school some of which include:
• Our school uniform;
• Our school building;
• Our school environment;
• Our learning environment;
• The way we learn.
And many more than the list above.
