The Globe theatre was built in 1599 in Southwark.

The Globe has a large, round open air theatre. The reason why they have the open space at the top is because when it was Shakespearean time they didn't have electricity therefore they had to use the sun have the light.

If people wanted to stand they had to pay a penny. A penny ment in the Shakespearean time £5!

When the Globe theatre flag went up that means that a play is being performed.

The Globe Theatre burnt down in 1613. A cannon used for a performance of Henry VIII set light to the thatched roof and the fire quickly spread, it took 2 hours to burn down quickly.

After burning down in 1613, the Globe Theatre was rebuilt on the same spot in 1614.

The Globe theatre got burned 3 times!
