This is my latest version of my release phrase with an extended interpretive ending. I feel very happy with my development of the dance. However I feel the jump and spin backwards needs to travel further- I think this is a thing that will come with confidence and practice. I would like a higher jump so that the dynamics are very contrasting with that of the floor work and a further travel so that there is more space used.
The extended piece was created through the groups own ideas and previous phrases we had used in class. I need to practice the entire extended phrase over, as the knelt push through is messy here, as I forgot the phrase. This could also be a criticism of our interpretation as the movement does not easily fit in- unlike what is expected of Release.
As a personal interpretation - A river rocking, which starts of slowly, and becomes rapid- releases up and falls into a waterfall motion, it travels over some hills where there is a sunrise into a sunset- leading into the curved moon. In the quiet night the walks resemble lines of trees, the roll down, a fall of a seed, and the handstand the growth of a new flower pushed through the ground and lying under are roots leading to more and more flowers, until the edge of the forest. The wind throws the valley back and around in a tornado of leaves in autumn. When the wind leaves the body, the valley is frozen in winter, but melts back into a river, sliding through undernearth logs and over sharp rocks, it leads to the mountains, where the snow is an avalanche. The year begins again a flower trying to grow from its bud, again it's roots under the ground form another flower- the cycle of nature- a year in its seasons.
