Last Saturday saw the culmination of a year's work for the Museum's HYPE team. The HYPE team are a group of secondary aged young people who meet at the Museum to work on various projects. The last year has seen them working on a multi media project aimed at presenting heritage in a more teenage-friendly way. To do this they have taken part in music workshops and film projects and made their own website. All this was made possible by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund which paid for both equipment and expertise. Saturday saw the launch of their website http://www.hypeteam.org.uk
which showcases some of their films and photographs.
Working with the young people on this project thas been great fun but also quite hard work as although we have taken hours of film not all of it has been usable - we will be working on an outtake film!
To celebrate the launch we asked family and friends along to the Museum for a cup of tea and the chance to be the first to see the new website and learn a little about the young people had been doing during the time spent at the Museum. It was lovely to explain what HYPE have been doing but even better to receive their support and give the young people such positive feedback.
